Irrfan Khan’s Son Babil Khan’s Screen Debut ‘Qala’ To Release On 1st December 2022

Posted on November 2, 2022 By Theatre Out No Comments on Irrfan Khan’s Son Babil Khan’s Screen Debut ‘Qala’ To Release On 1st December 2022

New Delhi: Babil Khan’s entry into movies now has a release date. The talented newcomer is set to captivate the world with his much-awaited screen debut in Anvitaa Dutt’s ‘Qala’. Featuring a stunning ensemble cast of Babil Khan, Tripti Dimri, Swastika Mukherjee and Amit Sial, the period musical drama is set to release exclusively on Netflix on 1st December 2022.

Babil announced the release date by sharing a set of intriguing stills from ‘Qala’. In the latest post, Babil, wearing a regal outfit, stands striking a mysterious pose in a candle-lit room. His previous post shows the effervescent Tripti Dimri playing the sitar.

Set in the 1930s and late 1940s, ‘Qala’ tells the story of a young playback singer and how the past catches up with her, causing her to unravel at the peak of her success.

Talking about his debut, Babil Khan said, “I have never been fond of the word ‘debut’ or its implications as the story is and will always be greater than the individual; let’s say the first time I worked in a film as an actor was a period of rigorous personal evolution through a very difficult time. For this I am exceptionally grateful to the makers of this film and of this universe.”

The film is about Qala’s tragic past and the ways in which it catches up with her, causing her to unravel at the peak of her hard-won success. But the beginning and end of her spiral is her relationship with her mother.

”The pathology of her upbringing and the neurosis it leads to. Witness the emotional journey of Qala who navigates professional successes while battling personal demons,” read the official plotline.

Babil also has the upcoming series ‘The Railway Men’ by YRF Entertainment on his cards.
