ASWA Prep Rankings: 2 new No. 1s entering the final week of the 2022 regular season

There are a pair of new No. 1 teams in the latest Alabama Sports Writers Association prep football rankings entering the final week of the regular season.

In Class 7A, Hoover replaced Thompson as the top team after the Bucs beat the Warriors 9-0 in Alabaster on Friday night.

In Class 6A, Theodore replaced Saraland as the No. 1 team after the Bobcats defeated the Spartans 27-26. Theodore jumped reigning state champ Clay-Chalkville in a tight vote. Eric Collier’s Bobcats received 10 first-place votes and finished with 200 points. The Cougars received 7 first-place votes and finished with 182 points.

The ASWA will put out one final poll next week before the start of the playoffs.
