Bigg Boss season 16 has been expected to bring in a lot of changes. first off, it is rumoured to have adopted few concepts of similar concept of Lock Up season 1 aired of ALTBalaji and MX Player earlier this year. Secondly, unlike previous seasons, season 16 has an extra and the biggest player constantly playing throughout the game — it is none other than the owner of the house, Bigg Boss himself. The Bigg Boss who has, up until now, made his presence felt through his voice, seems to be breaking a lot of his own guards and is seen getting more than frank with the contestants this year. Many feel this might take Bigg Boss’s ‘rutba’ a notch down. Third change is not really a change but more of an attempt to take Indian Bigg Boss, a franchise of Bigg Brother, international. And this has been attempted to be achieved by introducing a cute contestant named, Abdu Rozik, inside the Bigg Boss house.
All these changes are being desperately done by the makers, to save the dwindling TRPs of one of their most watched shows. After the blockbuster season 13, which has been undoubtedly, without any competition, the best season in the 13-year history of Bigg Boss in India up until then, there has not been any season post that, which could garner as much TRP. Season 14 flopped on its face and 15 was better but not as good. Season 16 has a lot of expectations to pick up TRP charts in the upcoming weeks. Let’s see how has season 16 faired in the first two weeks.
Launch weekend had a TRP of 1.8 with the following week a TRP of 1.3 and an overall TRP of 1.5. The recent BARC TRP Ratings of 20th October shows a different story with last week’s ‘Weekend Ka Vaar’ gaining less TRP of 1.7, weekdays the TRP increased to 1.4. However, overall TRP remained the same — 1.5.
Only time will tell how this season will fair.
