With the new sitcom Lopez vs. Lopez, George Lopez, who has been in several TV series during his career, is back in the spotlight. The comedian’s upcoming NBC programme will be his first TV appearance since his six-season run as George Lopez on ABC. (You can watch the programme right now on NBCU’s Peacock streaming service.)

Lopez vs. Lopez will debut as part of NBC’s Friday comedy hour, along with Young Rock season 3, in an effort to make fans smile as they enter the weekend.

The connection between George Lopez and his daughter—or at least a dramatised version of it—is not just the series’ major focus; they are also its stars. The Lopez vs. Lopez official summary is as follows:

“George Lopez is back in primetime and this time he’s bringing his real-life daughter, Mayan. This hilarious and heartwarming comedy tells the story of a working-class old-school Latino who moves in with his modern Gen Z daughter as they rebuild their dysfunctional relationship one argument at a time. It’s old vs new, father vs daughter, Lopez vs Lopez.”

The other half of the title is filled by Mayan Lopez, the real-life daughter of George Lopez. Although their true names, George and Mayan, will be used in their personas, the similarities to their real names end there.

George Lopez first gained notoriety as a stand-up comedian, but he rose to fame thanks to his TV programmes, such as the aforementioned George Lopez, Saint George, and Lopez. Other significant credits include roles in the films Real Women Have Curves, Balls of Fury, and Valentine’s Day as well as the television programmes Curb Your Enthusiasm, Harley Quinn, and The Neighborhood. For a few seasons, he also hosted Lopez Tonight, a late-night conversation show on TBS.

Though she did make an appearance on a George Lopez episode in 2007, this will be Mayan Lopez’s first significant acting role.

Lopez vs. Lopez is broadcast on NBC, so anybody with a regular cable subscription may watch it live.
