Songtradr launches new ‘Smart Sync’ digital rights management tool

Posted on October 20, 2022 By Theatre Out No Comments on Songtradr launches new ‘Smart Sync’ digital rights management tool

Los Angeles-based B2B music licensing company Songtradr has launched a new tech solution called Smart Sync, which it calls “an advanced technology to track, control, and monetize music catalogs”.

This digital rights management technology allows labels, publishers, and production music libraries to manage their music for global sync across platforms including YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.

A key feature of Smart Sync is watermarking technology that Songtradr claims “solves inherent licensing challenges faced by video games and digital platforms”. Songtradr claims further that Smart Sync will expand revenue potential for music rights holders “allowing licensing at an unprecedented scale”.

Songtradr says that the product also provides catalogs with direct access to global brand sync opportunities through Songtradr Group businesses, such as Big Sync Music and MassiveMusic.

Commenting on the launch of Smart Sync, Songtradr CEO Paul Wiltshire says that, “before Smart Sync, there has been no automated solution to properly manage music use claims/releases by rights holders who may be required to grant licenses to both the game and its users on YouTube”.

“Songtradr is the bridge that connects rights holders to any music user in the world using technology to simplify and automate complex and high volume licensing transactions, which is why we developed Smart Sync.”

Added Wiltshire: “Music users want more platform interoperability and rights holders don’t have the time to manually manage these requirements at scale.

Amongst the features included in Songtradr’s Smart Sync tech are the ability to monitor digital music use, and the ability to manage claims and releases on platforms like YouTube, as well as manage rights issues, such as missing information or ownership conflict.

It also lets rightsholders view detailed performance insights, including audience demographics, territories, and top-performing tracks, as well as license music to Songtradr’s customer base of content creators, businesses, games, apps, platforms, and brands.

Songtradr’s new tech launch follows the company’s acquisition in June of AI metadata and music search company, Musicube.

In addition to Musicube, Songtradr’s portfolio of music companies includes Massive Music (acquired in June 2021), Big Sync Music (acquired in February 2019) and Song Zu (acquired in March 2021).

Other companies acquired by Songtradr include film, TV and gaming music data platform Tunefind, and Pretzel, which provides DMCA-proof music for Twitch and YouTube livestreamers.

Paul Wiltshire, CEO, Songtradr, said: “As digital environments continue to evolve rapidly, music rights use and licensing is becoming far more complicated.

“The complexity of new digital environments such as gaming, Web 3.0 apps and social media networks often require integrated music solutions. For example, content (containing music) can travel rapidly from a game environment to a platform like YouTube via user-generated content creation.

“Before Smart Sync, there has been no automated solution to properly manage music use claims/releases by rights holders who may be required to grant licenses to both the game and its users on YouTube.”

Added Wiltshire: “Music users want more platform interoperability and rights holders don’t have the time to manually manage these requirements at scale. Songtradr is the bridge that connects rights holders to any music user in the world using technology to simplify and automate complex and high volume licensing transactions, which is why we developed Smart Sync.

“This new streamlined solution allows music rights holders to manage their assets efficiently, access important performance metrics, maximize existing digital revenues, and find new sources of income through the Songtradr product suite. Put simply, Smart Sync provides rights holders with the best digital rights management solution and expanded sync licensing in complementary markets. Through technology, creativity and transparency, we’re changing the music industry for good, providing tech-enabled solutions that are solving long-standing issues.”Music Business Worldwide
