A 21-year-old suspect has been charged with capital murder in the slaying of a Montgomery woman.
Police on Wednesday said Keondre Haynes is charged in shooting death of 18-year-old Erykah Manora.
Haynes was initially charged with attempted murder when Manora was shot in the head and critically wounded on Aug. 31. The charges have since been upgraded following Manora’s death on Oct. 11.
The shooting happened about 3 p.m. that Wednesday in the 300 block of Shelley Lane. Manora, a recent high school graduate, was taken to the hospital where she remained until her death.

The charge against Haynes is a capital crime because Manora was shot in front of her two young children.
A motive has not been disclosed.
Haynes was booked into the Montgomery County Detention Center on Sept. 1 and remains held without bond.
Manora’s funeral is scheduled for Saturday at Fresh Anointing House of Worship in Montgomery, with burial to follow at Eastwood Memorial Gardens.
