With live-action film adaptations, Disney has spent the last several years giving some of our favourite Disney princesses from childhood new life. Though, when we initially learned that the company was producing a Cruella movie, we felt it had gone too far.

It all comes down to Emma Stone’s outstanding lead performance, which she delivers with extraordinary brilliance. The movie attracted admirers from all around the world and made a tonne of money because of Stone’s sympathetic and menacing depiction of Cruella. So it should come as no surprise that Disney approved Cruella 2 soon after the first movie’s premiere. Of course, we have some inquiries concerning Cruella’s second journey, such as the precise date of its publication. What will the topic be? And who from the cast is coming back?

Cruella 2 Plot

We may anticipate the “vengeance” The Baroness threatens Cruella with from the back of a police car to be carried out, if she returns for Cruella 2. In an effort to exact complete vengeance against Cruella, she could be let out of the huge house (or even manage to escape), with Cruella attempting to prevent the Baroness from bringing about her demise.

Alternatively, it might go right to the fun stuff with a direct prequel to One Hundred and One Dalmatians or another adaption of the film. Cruella presents Pongo and Perdita, the two main pets from the animated movie, to Roger and Anita in the post-credits sequence of the first movie.

It would be a risky approach given Cruella’s exceptionally gruesome activities in that movie, and it may destroy the audience’s warm attachment to Cruella that was developed during the telling of her origin tale, but it might be just a risky enough plan to succeed. Additionally, it could be just what filmmaker Craig Gillespie is seeking.

“I feel like we’ve only just met her. I’d love to now see the full-blown Cruella, fully loaded,” he said in an interview with Collider. “She’s managed to get the support system around her, and she can really expand on her brand. I’d love to see where that takes her and how you could almost destroy her from the inside out if she’s not careful with all that power.”

Cruella 2 Cast

Would you believe Cruella herself is the most important component of a new Cruella movie? Emma Stone has decided to appear in Cruella 2 following some very publicised talks in the wake of Scarlett Johansson’s lawsuit against Disney.

The creators of the original movie, director Craig Gillespie (also known for I, Tonya and Lars and the Real Girl), and writer Tony McNamara, are joining her in the sequel as fellow Cruella graduates (creator of The Great and co-writer of The Favourite).

Although no one else has yet been confirmed to return, it is anticipated that Joel Fry’s Jasper and Paul Walter Hauser’s Horace will do so. If Emma Thompson’s Baroness will return, only time shall tell. Her confinement may have put a stop to her storyline, but anything is possible.

The trailer has not been out yet for season 2.

Cruella 2 Release Date

We don’t anticipate a Cruella 2 release date to be announced any time soon because the sequel was only given green light this year. The movie’s release may also change significantly because the epidemic forced Cruella to make her Disney Plus Premier Access debut; when it eventually arrives, it probably will be a theatre-only release.

Disney and the crew behind the movie are taking their time rather than starting production right now. A very late 2023 or early-to-mid 2024 release is as accurate a prediction as we can make considering that The Hollywood Reporter indicated that writing on the film wouldn’t start until at least 2022.
